Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Park the machine on a level surface. Move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL position and move the parking brake control to the ENGAGED position. Shut off the engine.Install the steering frame lock. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock".Block the wheels of the machine.The parking brakes should only require purging after disassembly of the brake system components.If the lines for the parking brake accumulator have been serviced, always purge the lines for the parking brake accumulator before attempting to purge the lines for the brakes.Parking Brake Accumulator

Attach lengths of clear tubing to the purge fitting for the parking brake accumulator. Place the free ends into a suitable container.
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle.
Move the parking brake control to the DISENGAGED position.
Open the purge fitting until air and/or oil is discharged from the tube.
When the oil flows free of air, close the purge fittings.
Move the parking brake control to the ENGAGED position and shut off the engine.Parking Brake

Attach tool (A) to test fitting (1) on brake chamber (2) . Place the free end into a suitable container.
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle.
Move the parking brake control to the DISENGAGED position.
Open the needle valve on tooling (A) until air and/or oil is discharged from the tube.
When the oil flows free of air, close the needle valve.
Move the parking brake control to the ENGAGED position and shut off the engine.
Remove tooling (A) .
