MANIFOLD AS 1424162 - Caterpillar

1. Remove bolt (1) and two bolts (3). Remove cover (2).2. Remove two bolts (5), and remove cover (4). 3. Disconnect tube assembly (6) from brake caliper assembly (9).4. Loosen bolt (7).5. Remove remaining seven bolts (8) that hold brake caliper assembly (9) to the final drive housing.6. Fasten a nylon lifting strap and a hoist to brake caliper assembly (9) as shown. Using bolt (7) as a pivot point, raise the brake caliper assembly to a horizontal position. Remove bolt (7), and remove the brake caliper assembly. The weight of the brake caliper assembly is 54 kg (120 lb). The following steps are for installation of the brake caliper assemblies.7. Fasten a nylon lifting strap and a hoist to brake caliper assembly (9). Position the brake caliper assembly in a horizontal position on the final drive housing, and install bolt (7). Do not tighten bolt (7) at this time.8. Lower brake caliper assembly (9) in position, and install remaining seven bolts (8). Tighten eight bolts (7) and (8) to a torque of 475 50 N m (350 37 lb ft).9. Connect tube assembly (6) to the brake caliper assembly.10. Put cover (4) in position, and install two bolts (5).11. Start By:a. remove brake caliper assemblies 1. Remove bolts (1) and cover (2) from the brake calipers.2. Remove four bolts (3) and four pins (4) from the brake caliper. Remove the o-ring seals from pins (4). 3. Remove plugs (7) and rectangular seals (5) from the inside of the brake caliper.4. Remove piston (6) from the inside of the brake caliper. 5. Remove boots (9) from the inside of the brake caliper.6. Remove packings (8) from the bore in the brake caliper. 7. Use tooling (A) to pull pistons (10) from the outside of the brake caliper.8. Remove boots (11) from the outside of the brake caliper. 9. Remove the piston packings (12) and back-up ring (13) from the bores in the brake caliper. The following steps are for assembly of the brake caliber assemblies.10. Be sure all of the brake caliper assembly parts are clean and free of dirt and foreign material. Inspect all parts for wear and damage, and make replacements if needed. Lubricate piston packings (12), inside of boots (11), and the solid end of pistons (10) with clean brake fluid.11. Install piston packings (12) and back-up ring (13) in the groove of the bores in the outside of the brake caliper as shown.12. Put tool (B) in position in boots (11) as shown.13. Install boots (11) in the groove of the bores in the outside of the brake caliper. 14. Put pistons (10) through tool (B), and in position in the bores of the brake caliper.15. Use tooling (A) to push pistons (10) to the bottom of the bores in the outside of the brake caliper. Be sure boots (11) are
