Symbol for the Hour MeterThe "Clear" switch is used in order to step through the program in Caterpillar Monitoring System. The technician should toggle the "Clear" switch as the display for the Caterpillar Monitoring System shows the symbol for the Hour Meter.The numerical code will use as many as six digits. The digits are divided into three fields with two digits in each field. For example, "42_ _02" would be the calibration mode for the tilt back with Autodig control. The first two digits are the calibration submode for the tilt back with Autodig control. The next two digits show the position in the calibration.Note: If the machine is not equipped with the Autodig system, this calibration is not required.

Note: If the machine is equipped with a joystick control, follow the same strategy that is used by the control levers.
Move away from other operating machines and away from personnel. Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. Lower the work tool to the ground. Stop the engine.
Connect the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool to the machine. Refer to Illustration 1 for the location of the connector for the service tool.
Start the engine. Operate the machine until the hydraulic oil reaches operating temperature. Ensure that the ride control system is OFF on machines that are so equipped.
Enter the implement calibration mode. Toggle and hold the "Mode" switch until "_ _7_ _" is shown on the display. Release the "Mode" switch. Submode "_ _ 82 _ _" will show on the display. Refer to Illustration 2 for the location of the connector for the display.
Toggle the Clear switch until the "82 _ _10" is shown on the display.
Toggle the "Scroll" switch until "82_ _42" is shown on the display.
Toggle the "Clear"
