A     2P-8250     Strap Wrench     1    Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury or death may result from failure to adhere to the following procedures.Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.

Close fuel shutoff valve (1) .

Disconnect hose assembly (3) and tube assembly (4).
Open the drain valve on water separator (7) and drain the fuel into a suitable container. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove fuel filter (5) .
Remove bolts (2) and fuel filter base (6) .Installation Procedure
Do not fill fuel filter housings with fuel before installing elements.Contaminated fuel will cause accelerated wear to fuel system components.

Install fuel filter base (6) and bolts (2) .
Install fuel filter (5). Close the drain valve on water separator (7) .
Connect hose assembly (3) and tube assembly (4) .

Open fuel shutoff valve (1) .
