Never push or tow the machine to start the engine. Doing so may damage the drive train.

Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position. The battery disconnect switch is located on the right frame rail of the engine compartment.

Adjust the fore/aft seat movement isolator in order to allow full operation of the inching clutch pedal and of the service brake pedal. Note: If you use the fore/aft isolation, make sure that the pedals can be fully applied from the farthest rearward position. Do not move the seat too close to the dash panel. This could impede access to the operator's compartment.

Move the transmission control lever to the NEUTRAL position.Note: A safety device prevents the starter motor from operating unless the transmission control lever is in the NEUTRAL position.

Engage the parking brake.

Move the implement control levers to the HOLD position.

Move the governor control lever to the LOW IDLE position.

Fully depress the inching clutch pedal.
Briefly sound the horn in order to alert bystanders.

Turn the engine start switch key to the START position.

After the engine begins cranking, push in top of the rocker switch for the ether starting aid. Release the switch immediately. This will inject a premeasured amount of ether into the engine air intake.
Operate the ether starting aid switch at two second intervals while you crank the engine. Continue to operate the ether starting aid switch until the engine starts.
Release the key when the engine starts.Engine Block Heater
The engine block heater warms the engine coolant in order to aid starting. Use the engine block heater in temperatures below −9°C (−16°F). The cord for the engine block heater is available from any CLAAS dealer.

The heater cord assembly connects to the receptacle on the right side of the engine. In order to operate the engine block heater, plug the heater cord assembly into a 220 volt circuit or into a 240 volt circuit. The engine block heater should be activated for at least four hours before you start the machine. Store the heater cord assembly in the storage compartment in the cab.
To avoid shocks or other injuries, never use an ungrounded or inadequate extension cord. Use a three-wire extension cord with a three-wire plug which is rated for at least a 15 amp load and is protected by a suitable fuse or circuit breaker.Always inspect the heater electrical cord for worn or frayed insulation before plugging into current.
Note: Always remove the cord from the heater and return the cord to the storage compartment when you are not using the engine block heater. This will protect the cord from damage that is caused by hot engine components.Note: In extreme conditions, the engine block heater may need up to ten hours in order to adequately heat the engine.If you are starting the engine in temperatures below −18°C (−0°F), consult any CLAAS dealer.
