Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect" for the machine that is being serviced.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Remove right engine guard (1) .
Remove four bolts (2) and lower panel (3) .

Disconnect two tubes (4) .

Remove two bolts (5) and fuel transfer pump (6) .Reference: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR5598 for information on Disassembling and Assembling the fuel transfer pump.Installation Procedures
Note: Lubricate the bore lightly with lubricant.

Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seal. Install the O-ring seal on fuel transfer pump (6) .
Install fuel transfer pump (6) and two bolts (5) .
Tighten two bolts (5) to a torque of 12 3 N m (106 27 lb in).

Connect two tubes (4) .

Install lower panel (3) and four bolts (2) .
Install right engine guard (1) .End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect" for the machine that is being serviced.
