Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the bowl lift cylinders. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bowl Lift Cylinder - Remove and Install".
At operating temperature the implement hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.To prevent possible injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic system before hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.

Disconnect hose assembly (1) from the apron cylinder.

Disconnect hose assembly (2) from the apron cylinder.

Attach two nylon lifting straps and a hoist to the apron cylinder.

Remove two bolts (3), the washers and bar (4) that secures pin (5) to the scraper bowl.

Use a slide hammer to remove pin (5) that secures the apron cylinder to the scraper bowl.

Remove two bolts (6), the washers and bar (7) that secures pin (8) to the apron.

Use a slide hammer to remove pin (8) from the apron. Remove the apron cylinder from the scraper bowl. The apron cylinder weighs 43 kg (95 lb).
