Installation Procedure
Note: Verify that all of the components of the engine oil filter base are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Apply 7M-7456 Compound to the threads of taperlock stud (30) prior to installation. Install shield assembly (28), two drive screws (29), and taperlock stud (30) to oil filter base assembly (5). Tighten taperlock stud (30) to a torque of 80 14 N m (59 10 lb ft).

Install gasket (27) to cover (23). Install plunger (25) and spring (26) to oil filter base assembly (5) .

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Position oil filter base assembly (5), as shown. Hold cover (23) to oil filter base assembly (5). Install two bolts (24) and the washers that hold cover (23) to oil filter base assembly (5) .
Ensure that the valve moves freely in the bore. The valve must open at 230 20 kPa (33 3 psi) while the engine is running.
Repeat Step 1 through Step 4 for the remaining oil filter base assemblies.

Install oil filter base assembly (5) and gasket (22) (not shown) to oil filter base assembly (20). Install five bolts (21) and the nuts that hold oil filter base assembly (5) to oil filter base assembly (20) .

Install two O-ring seals (17) to adapter (18). Install O-ring seal (19) to fluid sampling valve (16). Install adapter (18) to base adapter (12) .

Install pressure sensor (15) to base adapter (12). Tighten pressure sensor (15) to a torque of 10 2 N m (88 18 lb in). Install fluid sampling valve (16) and dust cap (14) to base adapter (12) .

Install base adapter (12) and gasket (13) (not shown) to oil filter base assembly (11). Install five bolts (10) and the nuts that hold base adapter (12) to oil filter base assembly (11) .

Install two O-ring seals (8) to adapter (9). Install adapter (9) to elbow (3) .

Install pressure sensor (7) to elbow (3). Tighten pressure sensor (7) to a torque of 10 2 N m (88 18 lb in).

Install elbow (3) and gasket (6) (not shown) to oil filter base assembly (5). Install seven bolts (4) and the washers that hold elbow (3) to oil filter base assembly (5) .

Install support assembly (2) to the oil filter base assemblies. Install 12 bolts (1) that hold support assembly (2) to the oil filter base assemblies, as shown.End By: Install the engine oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter and Oil Filter Base - Install".
