MANIFOLD GP-EXHAUST 2886985 - Caterpillar

1. Remove left sheet (1) and right sheet (2). 2. Remove cover assembly (3). 3. Remove stop (4). 4. Remove the cover, nut and washers from the center of the steering wheel and install tooling (A). 5. Remove hand metering pump (5). Install covers for protection in the hydraulic openings.6. Remove strip (6) that holds the parking brake control cable in position. 7. Remove cover (7) and knob (8) for parking brake control. 8. Disconnect transmission control cables (9) at the bellcrank and rack.9. Remove pins (10) that hold the steering column and remove the steering column.Install Adjustable Steering Column
Before installation of the adjustable steering column, put 5P960 Multipurpose Type Grease in the pin boees on the rods, on the gear teeth and on the ball sockets.
For easier installation of parking brake cable, install it into the column during installation of the column. 1. Install pin (4) with a nut and washer between the bracket and steering column and put steering column (1) on pin (4). Install pin (5) with a nut and washer between the bracket and steering column. Make adjustments so that the same amount of threads show on each end of the pins is the same.2. Install the outside nut and washers and tighten the nuts to a torque of 149 13.5 N m (110 10 lb.ft.).3. Put the steering column in the forward "STORED" position and move the transmission direction control valve to the "NEUTRAL" position. Move the speed control valve to 4th speed position.4. The rack for the speed control must project beyond the bottom of the lever assembly 25.5 mm (1 in.). Connect the transmission speed control cable (2) to the rack. Adjust the collar on the lever shaft to show 4th speed position.5. Connect directional cable (3) to the bellcrank. The control lever must be in the "NEUTRAL" position.6. Fasten a clamp over the transmission control cables with three bolts. Move the shift lever from "REVERSE" to the "FORWARD" position. Turn the handle on the lever to check the travel through the four speed range. If the linkage in column needs a small adjustment, make adjustment to the balljoints on the end of the cables. If adjustments are needed at the transmission, see TRANSMISSION CONTROL LINKAGE ADJUSTMENTS in POWER SHIFT TRANSMISSION TESTING AND ADJUSTING Form No. SENR2607. 8. Put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the cable end and install knob (7).9. Install cover (6). 10. Install strip (8) to hold the parking brake cable.11. Remove the covers for protection and install hand metering pump (9). 12. Install the steering wheel, washers and nut. Tighten nut (10) to a torque of 50 4 N m (37 3 lb.ft.). 13. Install cover (12).14. Put steering column forward in stored position. Install stop (11) against transmission control lever. The force required to engage the transmission must be more than 90 N (20 lb.) when put on the transmission control handle. 15. Install cover assembly (13). 16. Install left sheet (14)
