Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.
Lubricate O-ring seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.
Install the O-ring seal to the transfer gear case.
Install two 1/2" - 13 NC guide bolts in the transmission case.

Use tooling (A), lifting chains and a hoist to position the transfer gear case to the transmission.

Install two bolts (20) and the nuts that secure the transfer gear case to the transmission case. Remove the two guide bolts.
Install the seven nuts and the five bolts that secure the transfer gear case to the transmission case. Remove the tooling from the top of the transfer gear case.

Position two brackets (19) to the transfer gear case. Install two bolts (18) to the transfer gear case.
Connect wire (12) to the terminals on the light. Install electrical connector (10) to the wire clip. Install the bolt and wire clip (11) to the transfer gear case assembly.
Install the piston pump for the elevator. Refer to Machine Systems Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Elevator) - Install".
Install the vane pump for the hydraulic system and the steering system. Refer to Machine Systems Disassembly and Assembly, "Vane Pump (Hydraulic and Steering) - Install".
Install the axle shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Shaft - Install".
Install the drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft - Remove and Install".
Install the speed sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Speed Sensor (Transmission) - Install".

Install two drain plugs (1) and (2). Fill the transmission case with oil. Refer to the Wheel Tractor-Scraper Operation and Maintenance Manual for the appropriate oil and the procedure to fill the transmission case.
Install the power train guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install".
