The 8S7803Retaining Rings used on the service and secondary brake control pedalsof the products listed below can be dislodged by the operator's boot. Thiscan allow the pivot pin to separate from the brake pedal and result inthis brake control not functioning.You can perform this simple rework on yourown. If you plan to complete this rework yourself, please contact yourlocal Caterpillar dealer immediately to acquire eight free 9X2069 RetainingRings per machine and if needed one free 1P1859 Retaining Ring Pliers.Please bring this letter to your dealer to receive these parts for youto install. Turn the engine start switch key to OFFposition and engage the parking brake. 3. Locate the 1538338 Secondary Brake Pedaland the 1438994 Service Brake Control Pedal within the cab.Note: It is recommended that safety glassesbe worn while removing and installing retaining rings. 4. Remove four 8S7803 Retaining Rings fromeach brake control pedal using needle nose pliers. There are two retainingrings used on each pin. There are two pins per brake control pedal. Eightretaining rings will be removed altogether. There is no need to removethe pins to remove and install the retaining rings.5. Install four 9X2069 Retaining Rings on eachbrake control pedal using 1P1859 Retaining Ring Pliers. Eight retainingrings will be installed altogether.
