Information:
Electronic Control Module
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) provides a comprehensive, programmable engine monitoring system for this engine. The ECM monitors specific engine operating parameters to detect abnormal conditions that may develop. The ECM can initiate an action if a specific operating parameter extends beyond an acceptable range. The ECM will react with an action that depends on the severity of the condition. The following actions may be initiated by the ECM:
Illumination of a warning lamp or warning alarm
Engine derate
Engine protection shutdownNote: The above actions may not be available for certain parameters or applications. For most applications, Cat® Electronic Technician (ET) can be used to adjust trip points and delay times for the monitoring system parameters. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Event Codes" for specific information that is related to programming these parameters.Engine Instrument Panel
The engine instrument panel is usually mounted on the genset. The engine instrument panel may be mounted up to 7.6 m (25 ft) away from the engine. The engine instrument panel includes the following controls:
Emergency stop push button
Engine Control Switch (ECS)
Local speed control (if equipped)
Alarm horn
Emergency stop indicator
Electronic Modular Control Panel (EMCP) 4.4 control panelThe EMCP 4.4 Generator Set Control (GSC), is the primary controller within the generator set control system. If application and installation or troubleshooting information is needed specifically for the EMCP 4.4 GSC, refer to the following:
Application and Installation Guide, LEBE0007
Systems Operation, Troubleshooting, Testing and Adjusting, UENR1210The EMCP 4.4 software supports a user interface and provides information to the panel display regarding the status and operational controls of the generator, engine, and Dynamic Gas Blending (DGB) system. From the EMCP 4.4 panel display, operation and status overview screens can be used to view system status information. Refer to Application and Installation Guide, LEBE0007 for more information and instruction on navigating display screens to access system information details. The features on the panel are called out in Illustrations 1 and 2.
