Location of the Implement Pump and the Pilot/Brake Pump (1) Implement pump. (2) Steering pump. (3) Pilot/brake Pump.Implement pump (1) and pilot/brake pump (3) are located under the cab on the right side of the machine. Implement pump (1) is mounted to the transmission pump. The implement pump is driven by the transmission pump. The transmission pump is driven by gear in the torque converter housing.Implement pump (1) supplies the oil that is needed to operate the bucket and any attachments in the implement hydraulic system. The implement pump draws oil from the hydraulic oil tank through inlet (7). High pressure oil exits the implement pump through outlet (4). The implement pump and the pilot/brake pump contain a cartridge assembly. Cartridge assembly (5) and cartridge assembly (9) contain vanes. The rotation of the vanes on the rotor draws the oil from the hydraulic oil tank.Note: The operation of the implement pump and the pilot/brake pump are similar. (BB) Inlet oil.The components of the carriage assembly for a typical vane pump include a plate, an adapter, seal packs, rotor (11), cam ring (12) and vanes (18) .Vanes (18) are pushed outward by centrifugal force. Pressure oil in passage (14) forces the vanes outward along the contour of cam ring (12). Both ends of the vanes are connected by these passages. The oil in these passages keeps the pressure equal on both ends of the vanes. Also, the oil behind the vanes is allowed to escape as the vanes are pushed inward.As rotor (11) turns clockwise, the vanes in positions (G) and (F) move outward along the contour of the cam ring.
