Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

(2) Purge valve for the flow compensator The combination valve is mounted to the right side of the engine end frame below the fuel tank. The combination valve is accessible from the ground, from the right side of the engine end frame or by removing the access doors from the right side of the fuel tank. The pump control valves are directly mounted to the pumps, which are installed to the left side of the engine flywheel.

Install the correct platefrom Tooling (B) in order to block the flow in line (3) or (4). The opposite line must be plugged to the system that is being adjusted.
Remove the dust cover from test port (1) on the combination valve. Install Tooling (A) in test port (1).
Start the engine.
Operate the engine at low idle. Operate the implement controls for three to ten minutes in order to raise the hydraulic oil temperature to normal operating temperature range.
Operate the engine at high idle and record the pressure reading from the pressure gauge at test port (1). The pressure should read 3600 300 kPa (525 45 psi). If the low pressure standby is too high, refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Performance Tests" section in this manual.
Open purge valve (2) by one counterclockwise turn. A small amount of oil may leak by the purge valve during this procedure.
Read the pressure gauge. The correct setting for true low pressure standby is 3300 700 kPa (480 100 psi). This reading is without any load from the implements or any load from the steering on the hydraulic system.
If the pressure reading is incorrect close purge valve (2). Proceed to the Testing and Adjusting, "Pump Control Valve - Test and Adjust" section in this manual.
Stop the engine.
Remove all test equipment and install the dust cover on the combination valve.
