start by:a) remove tandem drive housing 1. Remove the bearing retainer, lock and bolts (1).
Bearing (2) is self-aligning. To prevent pressure to the outer race of the bearing, pull against the sprocket as shown.
2. Install tooling (A). Fasten a hoist to tooling (A) and remove the bearing, spacer behind the bearing, ring assembly, sprockets (3) and the spacer.Install Drive Sprockets
1. Make sure the splines on the shafts and sprockets are clean, dry and free of burrs.2. Install the spacer on the shaft. Put the sprockets on the axle shaft with the splines in the sprocket engaged with the splines on the shaft. 3. Install ring assembly (1) with the oil slingers toward the bearing as shown.4. Heat the bearing to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install spacer (2), bearings, retainer, lock and bolts.end by:a) install tandem drive housing
