The machines listed above may experience casting irregularities with the 480-6734 Axle Housing. To continuously improve the reliability and performance of Caterpillar Wheel Loaders, Caterpillar is requesting dealer input to help in the root cause investigation.Caterpillar would like dealer service technicians to capture the following details on machines listed above.The details would include:
Record or photographs of the casting code information, as shown in Illustration 1.
Visually inspect the lower rear of the axle housing, shown in Illustration 2.Submit a Cat Dealer Solution Network (DSN) Product Health service request to the Lower Powertrain Tier 2, through your dealer Technical Communicator (TC). When submitting the service request, include the machine serial number and hours.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but an interim repair has not been defined. Any action required will be provided through the submitted DSN serivice request.
