Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Drain the engine oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil - Change".

Remove drain plug (2) and drain plug (5). Remove the O-ring seals from the drain plugs (2) and (5).
Remove bolts (1). Remove engine oil pan (3).
Remove isolation seal (4) from the cylinder block and engine oil pan (3). Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Clean the sealing surface of the engine oil pan, cylinder block, front housing, and the flywheel housing.

Install isolation seal (4) on engine oil pan (3).
Apply Tooling (A) in order to fill the space at the flywheel housing, the cylinder block, and the engine oil pan. Apply Tooling (A) in order to fill the space at the front housing, the cylinder block, and the engine oil pan.
Put engine oil pan (3) in position and install bolts (1).
Install the O-ring seal and drain plug (2). Install the O-ring seal and drain plug (5). Tighten drain plugs (2) and (5) to a torque of 70 15 N m (52 11 lb ft).
Fill the engine oil pan to the correct level that is indicated on the engine oil level gauge. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil - Change".
