See the replacement article that follows.Description of Change: The 988H Fuel Management System has three modes which allow operators flexibility to set the operator control to meet production needs. The operator simply selects one of three settings and then operates the machine as the operator would today. The three modes that are available include:
1. Full Power - The fuel management switch in the off position allows for maximum machine performance and a maximum engine speed of 2120 rpm. The mode maintains the maximum rated engine speed (1800-1900 rpm) while digging
2. Balanced Power - The fuel management switch in the balanced power mode allows the machine maximum engine speed to be 1800 rpm. The maximum engine speed to be 1800 rpm allows for out of dig work segments. This engine speed will allow for maximum production while in the dig segment utilizing the maximum rated engine speed (1800-1900 rpm). This engine speed will also allow a reduction in engine rpm and pump flow when out of the dig segment.
3. Max Fuel Savings - The fuel management switch in the maximum fuel savings mode sets the machine maximum engine speed to 1700 rpm. When in this mode the engine speed reduces the pump flow while outside the dig work segment. In the dig segment, like the balance power, the machine maintains maximum rated engine speed (1800-1900 rpm) and pump flow.The 988H Fuel Management System gives more application flexibility for the customer.
