7. The low air pressure light should go on, and the electric horn should sound, if the air pressure is below 60 psi (415 kPa). 8. The low coolant flow lights should go on. If the air pressure is sufficient, the air horn will also sound.9. Depress the tractor accelerator past the detent. 10. Push in the heat-start switch and turn it to START.11. Release the switch when the engine starts.12. Keep the engine at low idle until it is warm.13. Watch all gauges and indicators for correct readings.
If the engine oil pressure gauge does not register within 10 seconds, stop the engine.
Below 60°F (32°C):
1. Follow steps 1 through 9 for Above 60°F (32°C). 2. Push in and turn the heat-start switch to HEAT for the time indicated on the STARTING AID CHART. 3. Turn the heat-start switch to START. Release the switch when the engine starts.4. When the engine starts, it may be necessary to turn the heat-start switch to HEAT until the engine runs smoothly.
Do not turn the heat-start switch to HEAT with the engine warm and running.
5. Watch gauges and indicators for correct readings.If the engine does not start after two attempts, the use of starting fluid should be considered. This will help prevent over heating the starting motor and reduce battery drain. See Using Starting Fluid.Starting the Scraper Engine: Above 60°F (32°C)
1. If the tractor engine was started first, be sure the tractor engine is running smoothly and all gauges and indicators are reading normally. 2. Insert the key and turn ON the scraper disconnect switch. * 3. The scraper coolant flow light should go on. **Only on machines with scraper mounted batteries. Earlier machines do not have scraper disconnect switch or coolant flow light on the scraper dash panels. 4. Move the scraper governor just past the detent. 5. Push in and turn the heat-start switch to START.6. Release the switch when the engine starts.7. Keep the engine at low idle until it is warm.8. Observe the scraper gauges. They should register in the normal range within 15 to 20 seconds.Below 60°F (32°C)
