Description of Change: The new clamp provides a better seal at the joint for the elbow and the tube. The clamp assembly is more resistant to vibration of the tube. Adaptable To: The 245-6848 Clamp As replaces the 4W-0531 Retainer on the engines that are listed above.The 245-6848 Clamp As is adaptable to the above engines back to first production. Effectivity is listed in Table 1.

Remove two bolts (1), two washers (4), and two retainers (3) from the original oil cooler elbow.
Remove retaining ring (2) from the original oil cooler tube.

Install ring (5 ) around the tube.
Install clamp assemblies (6) loosely around the tube using two bolts (3), four washers (4), and two nuts (2) .
Install clamp assemblies (6) onto the elbow using two bolts (1) and the two 5M-2894 Hard Washers previously removed.
Tighten the two bolts that were left loose.
