Illustration 1. The 6G9375 Final Drive Group. Dimension "A" must be 28 2 mm (1.1 .1"). This dimension must be checked any time components are exchanged in the final drive group or the rear wheel group.
Illustration 2. The final drive group showing 6V439 Plug installed in 8W2952 Cover Assembly.
Illustration 3. 6G9345 Rear Wheel Group.Procedure To Install First Reduction Planetaries
Illustration 4. Installing final drive first reduction planetaries in the 6G9375 Final Drive Group.1. Assemble gear (9), ring (14) and two bearing assemblies (15). Apply oil to the bearings and assemble these parts into carrier (4).2. Install 1U5812 Plate (19), 1U5813 Shaft (20) and two bolts (10). The 1U5812 Plate and the 1U5813 Shaft are tools, shaft (20) has a smaller diameter than the 8W6909 Shaft (11) to allow it to slide in and out of the bearings and carrier making it easy to measure for the correct amount of shims. The plate has a hole for the depth micrometer.3. Tighten bolts (10) to 20 N m (15 lb ft) and rotate gear (11). Tighten bolts (10) again to 34 N m (25 lb ft) and rotate gear (11). Tighten bolts (10) again to 34 N m (25 lb ft) but DO NOT rotate gear (11).4. Use a depth micrometer and measure gap (C) between plate (19) and shaft (20). Select shims from shim pack (12) equal to the gap plus 0.294 + 0.000-0.030 mm (.0116 + .0000-.0012"). If the former 9W2087 Bearing is still used, select shims from shim pack (12) equal to the gap plus 0.167 +0.000/ld/0.030 mm (.0066 +0.0000/ld/.0012"). The former 9W2087 Bearing can be identified by the supplier part number H715348. The new 6Y663 Bearing Assembly can be identified by the supplier part number H715348 20641.5. Be sure new shaft (11) and shaft (20) are the same length from the shoulder that contacts bearing (15) to the end of the shaft where the shims are placed. If there is a difference in lengths, add or subtract the correct amount of shims from the amount determined in Step 4.Example: The 8W6909 Shaft (11) (production) is 0.05 mm (.002") shorter than 1U5813 Shaft (20) (tooling). Add 0.05 mm (.002") to the thickness of shims determined in Step 4.
6. Using a press, install shaft (11) through carrier (4) and bearings (15). Use a maximum force of 355 kN (40 tons) to install the shaft.7. Install shims (measured in Steps 4 and 5) and plate (13). Install bolts (10) and tighten to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft).8. If no gap exists between plate (13) and carrier (4) at location (B), press shaft (11) into the bore until there is a slight gap.9. Retighten bolts (10) to 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft). Using a brass drift pin, drive plate (13) toward carrier (4) to close the gap. Be sure gear (11) rotates by hand.
