Pull boot (5) away from the top of cover (6) before removing the cover from steering column (4) .

Use the aid of a second person to hold metering pump (2) in place. Remove bolts (7) and the washers from the base of steering column (4) that secure the steering column and the metering pump together.

Carefully move metering pump (2) away from the frame of the cab. Attach a suitable nylon lifting sling and a suitable hoist to the metering pump in order to support the weight of the metering pump and avoid the metering pump from pulling on the attached hoses.

Remove bolts (8) that secure the solenoid valve to metering pump (2). Remove the solenoid valve from the machine.

Remove O-ring seals (9) from the solenoid valve.Installation Procedure
Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Install O-ring seals (9) into the solenoid valve.

View looking up to the metering pump.
Position the solenoid valve to metering pump (2) before installing bolts (8) that secure the solenoid valve and the metering pump together.

Remove the nylon lifting sling and the hoist that was attached to metering pump (2) during the removal procedure. Carefully move the metering pump to the frame of the cab.

Use the aid of a second person to hold metering pump (2) in position to the frame of the cab. Install bolts (7) and the washers to the base of steering column (4) that secure the steering column and the metering pump together.

Install cover (6) onto steering column (4) before pulling boot (5) over the top of the cover.

Connect electrical connectors (3) to metering pump (2). Use the identification marks that were placed on the electrical connectors during the removal procedure in order to correctly identify the correct positions of the electrical connectors.

Install cover (1) onto the machine.
