1. Diagnostic codes
A. Connect the Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) and check for active codes and/or logged codes.
Diagnostic Codes
Result: Active codes were found when connected to Cat ET.
Repair: Troubleshoot any codes that present before continuing with this procedure.
Result: No Active codes were found when connected to Cat ET.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Check the condition of the connectors at the ECM.
A. Check for the correct installations of the J2/P2 ECM connectors.
B. Check the J300/P300 injector solenoid harness connector.
Electrical Connectors
Result: There is no problem in the connectors and/or wiring.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
Result: There is a problem in the connectors and/or wiring.
Repair: Refer to the diagnostic functional test Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect".
3. Air Inlet and Exhaust System
A. Check the air inlet system, air filter, air inlet piping, and exhaust system for restrictions and/or leaks.
B. Repair any leaks that were found. Remove any restrictions that were found and replace any damaged components that were found.
C. Check the air inlet manifold pressure.
Restrictions
Result: There are no restrictions or leaks in the air inlet or exhaust system.
STOP
Result: There are restrictions and leaks in the air inlet and/or exhaust system.
Repair: Make the necessary repairs, and refer to System Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Air Inlet and Exhaust System".
