Information:


Do not disconnect any oil lines until all pressure in the main system has been released.
1. Disconnect oil lines (1), (3), (4), and (6). Disconnect pilot lines (10) from both sides of control valve.2. Remove oil lines (2), (5), (7), (8), (9), and (13) from the machine.3. Remove four bolts (12) and move manifold (11) aside. Install plugs in all openings in the control valve. 4. Remove four bolts (14) and move oil line (6) aside.5. Install tooling (A) and fasten a hoist to the control valve. Remove four bolts (15) and remove the control valve. Weight of the four stem control valve is 264 kg (580 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the four stem control valve.6. Install tooling (A) and fasten a hoist to the control valve. Put the control valve in position and install four bolts (15). Check the condition of the O-ring seals in all the oil lines that have been disconnected or removed. Replace if necessary.7. Put manifold (11) in position and install four bolts (12).8. Install oil lines (2), (5), (7), (8), (9), and (13).9. Connect pilot lines (10) on both sides of the control valve. Connect oil lines (1), (3), (4), and (6).10. Fill the hydraulic tank with oil to the correct level. See the Operation And Maintenance Manual.11. Remove the air from the pilot system. See the topic, Air Removal From The Pilot Oil System, located in the 254B Excavator And Front Shovel Hydraulic System, Testing And Adjusting Module, Form No. SENR3893.Disassemble And Assemble Four Stem Control Valve
Start By:a. remove four stem control valve 1. Remove two housings (6). Remove springs (3) and (4), and retainers (5) from housings (6). Remove the O-ring seal from each housing (6).2. Remove retainers (2) and spool (1) from the machine valve body. 3. Remove two housings (10). Remove springs (8) and retainers (9) from housings (10). Remove the O-ring seal from each housing (10).4. Remove retainers (7) and spool (11) from the main valve body. 5. Remove two housings (16). Remove springs (13) and (14), and retainers (15) from housings (16). Remove the O-ring seal from each housing (16). On the stick out portion of the control valve, remove additional spacer (16).6. Remove retainers (17) and spool (12) from the main valve body. 7. Remove two housings (24). Remove springs (20) and (21), retainers (22) and spacers (23) from housings (24). Remove the O-ring seal from each housing (24).8. Remove retainers (25) and spool (19) from the main valve body.
There is spring tension on housings (29).
9. Replace two bolts located diagonally on each housing with two 1/2" -13 x 89mm (3 1/2 in) bolts. Remove the remaining two bolts. Slowly remove the two 1/2" -13 x 89mm (3 1/2 bolts to relieve the spring tension on each housing (29). Remove two housings (29). Remove the O-ring seal from each housing (29).10. Remove springs (27) and spacers (28) from housings (28) from housings (29). Remove spools (26) from the main valve
