Introduction
ReferenceRefer to Service Welding Guide, SEBD0512 for information regarding repair of the cracks.Caterpillar is aware of this issue. Until a permanent corrective action is available, use the service replacement components that are currently available.Problem
Certain 621H and 627H Wheel Tractor-Scraper bowls have been found to have cracks developing on the rear of both bowl sides. The cracks initiate from a weld at the end of the channel that the bowl side hydraulic lines are routed through.This problem applies to both the left side and right side of the scraper bowl. A cover at the rear of the channel will need to be removed for inspection of the channel. This cover removal allows access to the area where the cracks have been discovered. Also inspect the other corners of the channel openings at the back of the bowl sides.Solution

A gouge and fill repair procedure, and instructions to repair the weld where the crack initiated will then be provided.
