ECM (Controller Logic)
Communication
Machine ECM (30) communicates with the operator controls on the instrument panel and the screed operator stations through CAN "C" communication lines. The CAN "C" requires a positive line and a negative line. The positive line is connected to terminal "J1-20" of the ECM. The negative line is connected to terminal "J1-10" of the ECM. These communication lines contain termination resistor (8) and (12).Machine ECM (30) communicates with display (10) through CAN "A" communication lines. These communication lines contain termination resistor (7) and (13).Conveyor and Auger Control
For those machines configured with two material height sensors, the operator can vary the relative speed of the conveyors to the augers. The right conveyor control dial and the left conveyor control dial allow the operator to vary this relative speed. When the control setting is at 0 percent, the dials provide the maximum speed differential between the conveyors and the augers. At zero percent, the conveyor operates at the minimum speed. When the control setting is at 100 percent, the dials provide the minimum speed differential between the conveyors and the augers. At 100 percent, the conveyor operates at the maximum speed. For those machines configured with four material height sensors, the operator can vary the speed of the conveyors based on the height of material at the back of the conveyors. The right conveyor control dial and the left conveyor control dial allow the operator to vary the speed of the conveyors. The height of the material at the back of the conveyors is measured by the conveyor material height sensors. In this configuration, the conveyors and the augers operate independently. The machine ECM automatically detects if the machine is equipped with paddle sensors or sonic sensors. The ECM monitors the status of the following terminals:
Terminal "J1-34" - right conveyor
Terminal "J1-33" - left conveyor
Terminal "J2-45" - right auger
Terminal "J2-44" - left auger. When paddle sensors are installed, these terminals are floating. When sonic sensors are installed, these terminals are grounded by the sensor. The machine ECM compares the input signals from the conveyor material height sensors to the input signals from the conveyor control dials. Then, the machine ECM
