Information:
(7LL) ExcavatorsDescription of Change: The new Machine Control Module provides a software change to the Swing/Travel Brake controls. This change is an improvement to how the ladder and service console switches control the swing and travel brakes. The new software will help eliminate the possibility of intermittent swing brake application during operation and travel brake applications while traveling. Swing Brake Function:
The swing brake status is based on left ladder position, operator swing request, implement request, bucket dump and service console position. Whenever a ladder or service console are down at machine power-up, the swing brake will be on immediately. After the ladder and service console are raised the swing brake will remain on until the operator requests a swing, implement, or a bucket dump operation. When any of these are requested the swing brake will be turned off Immediately. If a ladder or service console position switch indicates the ladder or service console has been lowered, the indication must last for at least three seconds before the machine control module will initiate the engagement of the swing brake. Once the request for swing, implement, or a bucket dump is completed, the swing brake will remain off for eight seconds, then the machine control module turns the swing brake back on. If the ladder or service console goes from down to up while an operator is requesting a swing, implement, or bucket dump operation, then the swing brake will remain on until the operator stops the request for .5 seconds.
Travel Brake Function:
The travel brake status is also based on left ladder position, travel requests and service console position. Whenever a ladder or service console are down at machine power-up, the travel brake will be on immediately. After the ladder and service console are raised the travel brake will remain on until the operator requests a travel operation. If travel is requested the travel brake will be turned off immediately. If a ladder or service console position switch indicates the ladder or service console has been lowered, the indication must last for at least three seconds before the machine control module will initiate the engagement of the travel brake. Once the request for travel is completed, the travel brake will be turned on. If the ladder or service console goes from down to up while an operator is requesting a travel operation, then the travel brake will remain on until the operator stops the request for .5 seconds.
The service console is an attachment and does not apply to all machines.Adaptable To: The new 141-5051 Machine Control Module directly replaces the former 138-0450 Machine Control Module. The new 141-5051 Machine Control Module is effective with 5230 (7LL1-Up) Excavators (FS).
