Start By:a. remove drum assemblyb. remove drum scraper (inner) 1. Remove two nuts and bolts (1) and clamp (2) from both sides of the yoke. Move the hose assemblies out of the way. 2. Position wooden blocks under the machine as shown. Refer to Step 11 in the topic "Remove & Install Drum Assembly", and remove Tooling (B) from under the yoke. 3. Attach lifting straps and a hoist to yoke (4) as shown.4. Remove four bolts (3) and the shims from the bottom plate (6). The shims are located between the plate and pivot housing. Put identification marks on the shims for installation purposes.5. Remove the two outside top bolts, and install two M24 x 3.0 guide bolts. Remove remaining bolts (3) and the shims. Put identification marks on the shims for installation purposes.6. Use two persons to remove plate (6) from the yoke and guide bolts. The weight of the plate is 39 kg (85 lb).7. Remove yoke (4) from the machine. The weight of the yoke is 1044 kg (2300 lb). 8. Remove bearings (7) from yoke (4). 9. If necessary, remove bearing race (8) from plate (6). The following steps are for the installation of the yoke.10. Install bearing race (8) in plate (6), if it was removed.11. Install bearings (7) on yoke (4).12. Use lifting straps and a hoist to position yoke (4) in the steering pivot.13. Use two persons to position plate (11) on the yoke and guide bolts. Install the original amount of shims and eight bolts (3).14. Refer to Step 11 in the topic "Remove & Install Drum Assembly" and position Tooling (B) under the yoke. Remove the wooden blocks from under the machine and remove the hoist and lifting straps.15. Position the hose assemblies, and install clamp (2) and two nuts and bolts (1) on both sides of the yoke.16. Install the inner drum scraper. See the topic, "Remove & Install Drum Scrapers", in this module.17. Install the drum assembly. See the topic, "Remove & Install Drum Assembly", in this module. After installation of the drum assembly, the clearance between the vertical bushings and the vertical pins must be checked. Use the following procedure: A. Check the vertical steer pivot clearance as follows:Steering Pivot1. Put the machine on a hard level surface. Stop the engine, and apply the secondary brake.2. Attach the base of Tool (A) to the top of the steer pivot housing as shown. Set the dial indicator actuator on the top of the rear frame.3. Set the dial indicator to zero.4. Put a hydraulic jack under the rear frame at the pivot assembly.5. Raise the hydraulic jack to obtain the greatest dial indicator reading. Record this dimension. When adding or removing shims only the top pivot point is shimmed.6. With new bearings and shims installed, total movement should be .13 to 1.14 mm (.005 to .045 in). On a used machine, total vertical movement should not exceed 1.91 mm (.075 in). If the movement is too
