Fully retract the boom and position the bottom of the quick coupler 150 mm (6 inch) above the ground. The machine must remain in this position while the engine is operating at low idle in order to check the zero setting.
If the zero setting of the system is correct, only indicator (8) or only indicator (9) will be illuminated.
The system is not serviceable if either indicator (5) is illuminated or indicators (5) and (4) are illuminated. An adjustment to the zero setting is required.Zero Setting Adjustment
Position the machine on firm, level ground. Ensure that the work tool or the carriage has been removed. If the machine is equipped with stabilizers, the stabilizers must be raised. Fully retract the boom and position the bottom of the quick coupler 150 mm (6 inch) above the ground. The machine must remain in this position while the engine is operating at low idle in order to adjust the zero setting.
Operate switch (7) in order to illuminate the duty indicator for lowered stabilizers (9) .
Push switch (7) and hold. The indicator for raised stabilizers (8) will now be illuminated.
Continue to hold switch (7) and push test switch (6). The audible alarm will operate twice.
Release the switches.
If the zero setting is now correct, only the duty indicator for raised stabilizers (8) will be illuminated. The audible alarm will not operate.
If the zero setting is incorrect, red indicator (1) and green indicator (5) will be illuminated. The audible alarm will operate continuously. This indicates that the system is not serviceable and the system requires further attention.Note: If the system is not serviceable, the audible alarm can still be silenced. Stop the engine. Push the test switch on the display unit and restart the engine at the same time. The audible alarm will stop but the system will not be operating correctly. The system is not serviceable and the system still requires further attention.Refer to the Service Manual, SENR5835 or consult your Caterpillar dealer for service procedures.
