MSS Power Train Uninstall Information

In order to uninstall MSS, perform the following procedure:
Go to the "Cat ET Configuration" screen.
Select "Security Access Parameters" that is listed under "Powertrain". Cat ET will display the MSS installation status. The MSS installation status will indicate "Installed". Cat ET will also display the "Security System Bypass Times". The "Security System Bypass Times" that are displayed will be values between "00:00" and "23:59".
Select "Advance MSS Installation Status".
Click the "Change" button that is at the bottom of the screen. The "Change Parameter Value" window will appear.
Click the arrow that is to the right of the "New Value:" field in order to view the selections. Set the value to "Not Installed".
Click "OK".

The factory password screen will appear. Click on the internet web link (15) that is listed below in order to procure passwords. The Caterpillar "Corporate Web Security" (CWS) screen will appear.

Once the CWS login information is entered, Cat ET will cause a "Factory Password System" screen to appear with newly created passwords. The created passwords will be automatically placed into the "Factory Password #1" and the "Factory Password #2" fields of the "Enter Factory Passwords" screen. Click "OK" in order to exit.

Cycle the keyswitch. Refresh the Cat ET screen. The MSS installation status will indicate "Not Installed". The "Security System Bypass Times" will be displayed as "Disabled or Not Installed". Refer to Illustration 34.Summary
Options to Reactivate the Immobilizer
There are two options in order to reactivate the immobilizer that is used with the engine ECM.
Uninstall and reinstall MSS in the power train ECM with the use of factory passwords.
Disconnect the power train ECM and reconnect the power train ECM.Note: This option requires that MSS remains installed in the power train ECM, as indicated under the Cat ET configure screen.
Remove power to the machine.
Disconnect the power train ECM.
Power up the machine by turning the ignition keyswitch to the ON position for a minimum of 30 seconds.
Power down the machine by turning the ignition keyswitch to the OFF position.
Reconnect the power train ECM.
Power up the machine.The MSS immobilizer status in Cat ET should show "Installed". The engine should start when the key is turned to the "ON" position.MSS Hardware
Key - A standard Caterpillar key blank with an electronic chip that is built into the key.Antenna - A black colored exciter coil that is assembled to the keyswitch. The exciter coil is used in order to read the key code data.Key Reader Module (Bouncer) - The key reader module is connected to the antenna and to the machine ECM with the use of a J1939 data link.Power train ECM - The power train ECM is an ECM that has been programmed with MSS software.MSS Software
MSS software is integrated with the power train software.
The MSS "Immobilizer" software is integrated with the engine software. The "Immobilizer" software has been integrated in order to prevent machine operation.

In order to uninstall MSS, perform the following procedure:
