Remove the air cleaner housing.
Remove the auxiliary water pump.
Remove the center exhaust manifold.
Remove the flywheel.
Remove the crankshaft rear seal and the wear sleeve.
Remove the electric starting motor.

Remove bolts (1) from the oil pan.

Typical Example
Loosen bolts (2) and allow the pan to drop about 6.4 mm (0.25 inch) for some clearance.

Remove cover (3).
Fasten Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to flywheel housing (6).
Remove two bolts (5) and install Tooling (C). Remove bolts (4) and the rest of bolts (5).
Remove flywheel housing (6). The weight of flywheel housing (6) is approximately 86 kg (190 lb).

Remove and discard gasket (7). Installation Procedure
Install flywheel housing (6) in the reverse order of removal.
Ensure that gasket (7) and the mating surfaces of the flywheel housing and engine block are cleaned of all contaminates. Trim gasket (7) flush with the engine block after installation.

Apply Tooling (C) to bolts (4).
In a numerical sequence, tighten bolts 1 through 8 to a torque of 135 14 N m (100 10 lb ft).
In a numerical sequence, tighten bolts 9 through 20 to a torque of 55 7 N m (40 5 lb ft).
In a numerical sequence, again tighten bolts 1 through 8 to a torque of 135 14 N m (100 10 lb ft).
In a numerical sequence, again tighten bolts 9 through 20 to a torque of 55 7 N m (40 5 lb ft).
Before installing bolts (2) and (1), apply Tooling (D) to the corners of the oil pan. Refer to the Disassemble and Assemble , "Oil Pan - Remove and Install" for further instructions.
