Donot perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the terminationdate without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst. This Revised Service Letter replacesthe November 20, 2001 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the ReworkProcedure.TERMINATION DATE

The forged link needs to be replaced on certainD6M Tractors. The hard forged link attached the bottom of the blade tothe C-frame structure may break. This type of failure may occur when themachine is working in a muddy environment and with mud packing around theforged link. In those cases an improved lower dozer link may be installed.AFFECTED PRODUCT

Disassemble broken 1105232 Forged Link per SEHS9974.
Remove 2 - 1S3311 Ring Retainers, 2 - 3B8489 HydraulicFitting, and 2 - 7J1309 Bearing.
On the new 1883757 Batwing Link, reinstall theparts listed here above. Be sure that you are installing the new batwinglink with the 1105217 and 1105218 Shims, which have to be cut like thedrawing shown in Illustration 1.
