Information:

Illustration 1. Former method used to set stops. With the new method, the hex-head stop bolts and shims are not used. Headless stop bolts and hex (lock) nuts, are now used.
The swashplate angle adjustment is now made by setting the distance between the top of the pump housing and the surface of the stop bolts with a micrometer depth gauge (Illustration 2).
Illustration 2. New method used to set stops. This method not only needs less tools than the former method, but after the pump is assembled, the stop settings, which control the output of the pump, can be adjusted from the outside while the pump is being run on a hydraulic test bench. This was not possible with the former method.
The new method for adjustment of the swashplate stops is as follows:
... Position the pump body so the stop bolts are at the bottom.
Illustration 3. Use dimensions shown in chart to adjust pump group.... Loosen the two lock nuts for the stop bolts.... See Illustration 3 and the chart to get the depth dimensions for maximum and minimum stop angles.... Use the 6F6922 Micrometer Depth Gauge and a range depth rod to measure the distance between the top of the pump housing and the ends of the stop bolts. Depth rods must be adjusted to a base and used only with that base. Reference Methods and Equipment Bulletin FEG00019-08, "Keeping Micrometers Accurate". Make sure that all gasket material is removed from the machined surface of the pump housing before the depth gauge is used. Turn the stop bolts clockwise to decrease the dimension and counterclockwise to increase the dimension.... Hold the stop bolts as you tighten the lock nuts.... Check both depth dimensions.... Test the pump on a hydraulic test bench. If the pump is not within specifications, adjust as necessary. The new method used for the swashplate stop setting can be used on all pump groups shown in the table.
