Procedure To Modify Steps On Tractors
1. Remove the existing step assembly.2. Each 8W3430 Step Assembly requires two 4B6221 Bosses and two 319253 Bolts for mounting on the tractor.3. Install the threaded bosses for the new step assembly so the bosses are 286.0 mm (11.26") apart. For tractors with 37.5 x 39 tires, the bottom step is 595 mm (23.4") off the ground.
Locating bottom rung of 8W3430 Step (two-rung) from ground.4. Weld all the way around the bosses with a 6.0 mm (.24") fillet weld. The bosses should be installed in approximately the same location as the former step.5. When installing the bolts, make sure they are tight and that they bottom out in the bosses so the step assembly can move from side to side.Procedure To Modify Steps On Scrapers
1. Remove the existing one-piece step assembly.2. Each 8W3058 Cable Assembly requires two 4V3638 Bosses and two 5P3882 Bolts for mounting on the scraper.3. Install the threaded bosses for the new step assembly so the bosses are 286.0 mm (11.26") apart. Use the following chart to determine the distance the step assembly should be off the ground.

The bosses should be installed in approximately the same location as the former step.5. When installing the bolts, make sure they are tight and that they bottom out in the bosses so the step assembly can move from side to side.
