1. Loosen the tracks. See topic Separate Track in this module.2. Raise the side of the tractor the track is to be removed from. 3. Use a hoist and put tool (A) in position under the track roller to be removed.4. The weight of a single flange roller is 48 kg (106 lbs.). The weight of a double flange roller is 55 kg (121 lbs.). Remove four bolts (2) and two caps (1) that hold the track roller to the track roller frame.5. Use tool (A) and remove the track roller from under the track roller frame. The following steps are for installation of the track roller.6. Use a hoist and tool (A) to put the track roller in position under the track roller frame. The flat surface on the track roller shaft must be against the track roller frame.7. Put the two caps (1) in position on the track roller shaft with the lip on the caps away from the roller. Install four bolts (2) and tighten to a torque of 475 50 N m (350 37 lb ft).8. Lower the tractor.9. Adjust the track. Start By:a. remove track rollers 1. Use a hammer and a punch, and drive the plug out of stopper (2).2. Use a slow speed drill and a 12.7 mm (.50 in) drill bit, and remove stopper (2) from the ends of the shaft.3. Remove bolts (3) and retainer (1) from both sides of the track roller. 4. Remove O-ring seal (5) from retainer (1). If the Duo-Cone seals are to be used again, put identification marks on the seals so they can be assembled and installed in their original position.5. Put identification marks on Duo-Cone seal (4). Remove the Duo-Cone seal from retainer (1). 6. Put identification marks on Duo-Cone seal (6). Remove the Duo-Cone seal and toric stabilizer (7) from shaft (8).7. The weight of shaft (8) is 14 kg (31 lbls.). Pull shaft (8) out of the track roller.Assemble Track Rollers
Use caution when using Trichlorethane. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations on the container when using Trichlorethane.
1. Clean and inspect all parts for wear or damage. Replace all parts that are damaged or worn.2. Make sure all parts are free of oil film, dirt or other foreign material. Use isopropyl alcohol and a clean cloth or paper towel for cleaning.
The bearing in track roller (2) can be damaged when shaft (1) is installed in the track roller if caution is not used during installation.
3. Put shaft (1) in position in the track roller.4. Put toric stabilizers (3) in position on both ends of shaft (1). See topic, Installation Of Duo-Cone Floating Seals before installing any of the Duo-Cone seals.5. Put toric ring (4) in position in seal ring (5). Make sure the toric ring is straight in seal ring (5).6. Put toric ring (4) and seal ring (5) in isopropyl alcohol until the entire toric ring is
