When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
Certain 331-5291 AM/FM/WB/CD Radio Gp and 331-5292 AM/FM Radio Gp contain defective software. The defective software can cause complete loss of sound or an intermittent loss of sound while the radio is in operation. The radio cannot be flashed with a newer version of software.
ACTION REQUIRED
The 331-5291 AM/FM/WB/CD Radio Gp and 331-5292 AM/FM Radio Gp that contain the defective software can be identified by the date code that is marked on the label. The labels are on the shipping box and on top side of the radio. Refer to the circled date code on box label in Image1 and the radio label in Image2.
Inspect all 331-5291 AM/FM/WB/CD Radio Gp and 331-5292 AM/FM Radio Gp in dealer parts stock to confirm if they are were manufactured in the affected date range.
- If the 331-5291 AM/FM/WB/CD Radio Gp and 331-5292 AM/FM Radio Gp is not manufactured in the date range of 09/01/2010 through 01/25/2011, return the radio group to the original packaging. Mark the package to indicate it has been inspected according to this program (PI7#####). Return the part to dealer parts stock.
- If the 331-5291 AM/FM/WB/CD Radio Gp and 331-5292 AM/FM Radio Gp is manufactured in the date range of 09/01/2010 through 01/25/2011, remove the radio group from dealer parts stock.

Hold all 331-5291 AM/FM/WB/CD Radio Gp and 331-5292 AM/FM Radio Gp for a Parts Return Request (PRR). A Parts Return Request (PRR) will be issued to you through the Send-It-Back process after the claim is submitted. Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork.

Hold all 331-5291 AM/FM/WB/CD Radio Gp and 331-5292 AM/FM Radio Gp for 30 days for a possible Parts Return Request (PRR). Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork.
If a Parts Return Request (PRR) is not issued to you after 30 days through the Send-It-Back process, handle the parts in accordance with your warranty bulletin on warranty parts handling.
