Information:

General
1. Move the machine to the desired location. Lower the front mounted equipment to the ground. After starting the machine, operate the backhoe for five minutes to warm the hydraulic oil. 2. Lower the stabilizers to the ground. Apply some down force. 3. Remove the transport locking pins (1) and put in storage hole (2).
Always check the condition of the seat belt and mounting hardware before operating the machine.Replace the seat belt at least once every three years, regardless of appearance. A date label, to determine the age of the belt is sewn onto each belt.
4. Sit on seat and adjust seat forward or backward. Fasten the seat belt after adjusting seat to desired position.Digging
1. Position the stick as shown above.Change engine rpm to increase or decrease backhoe cycle time. 2. Set the bucket cutting edge to approximately a 30° angle with the ground. 3. PULL BACK on the swing and stick control lever to move the stick in. 4. Adjust the depth of cut by raising the boom slightly and/or curling bucket, if stick travel stops due to the load. 5. Raising the boom slightly while the stick is traveling will release the down pressure on the bucket. This will allow the stick arm force to be applied to the cutting edge. 6. Continue the pass with the cutting edge traveling in a horizontal direction, peeling material into the bucket. 7. Keep the stick and boom approximately 90° to each other for maximum breakout force. 8. Lift the bucket at completion of pass by pulling back on bucket and boom control lever. Curl the bucket at the same time to keep the load level. 9. PULL BACK on the swing and stick control lever to position the stick vertically while hoisting. Swing the load when the bucket clears all obstructions. 10. As the boom approaches proper dumping height, engage the swing and stick control to extend the stick and the bucket and boom control, to open the bucket to dump the load. 11. Clean up the trench at the final depth to minimize hand labor. 12. Move the machine whenever the digging position is not efficient. Raise the bucket and boom for necessary clearance. Raise the stabilizers and move the machine as necessary. 13. Adjust the governor control, if necessary, to increase or decrease the response time and travel speed of the boom, stick and bucket.Side Shifting - 68H Only
1. PULL the sideshift lock lever (1) BACK to unlock.2. Swing the backhoe to either side.3. Lower the bucket to the ground. Use bucket to push or pull backhoe sideways to desired position.
Move controls slowly, to help eliminate binding in the sideshift track.
When backhoe is in desired position, PUSH the lever (1) FORWARD to lock.Hydraulic Oil Temperature Gauge
Hydraulic Oil Temperature Gauge - When the INDICATOR is in the GREEN range, oil temperature is NORMAL. When it is in the RED, the oil is too HOT.
Reduce the engine rpm if the hydraulic oil temperature is in RED (hot) range. If
