SUBJECT: THE USE OF HIGH-PRESSURE WATER SPRAYS TO CLEAN THE UNDERCARRIAGE CAN RESULT IN DAMAGE TO UNDERCARRIAGE COMPONENTS ON TRACK TYPE TRACTORS, TRACK TYPE LOADERS AND EXCAVATORS
PROBLEM:
When you use high-pressure water spraying equipment in order to clean the sealed and lubricated track, the track rollers or the idlers on the track type tractors, it is possible to push the acrylic plastic plug (1) that is in the stopper (2) in these components inward and apart from the stopper. When you use high-pressure water spraying equipment in order to clean the track rollers on the excavators, it is possible to push the acrylic plastic plug (1) that is in the stopper (2) in the track roller inward and apart from the stopper. This allows the oil in the component to drain. The acrylic plastic plug is in the center of the stopper.
When you direct high-pressure water squarely on the face of the rubber stopper (2), the high-pressure water can cause several things to happen. The plug (1) can move inward and become removed from the stopper. At times, the stopper can be pushed into the track pin, the stopper can be pushed into the roller or the stopper can be pushed into the idler shaft. If any of these three conditions happen, the lubricating oil inside these components will slowly leak out. If you do not find the leak and replace the plug, the loss of the oil will destroy these components.
SOLUTION:
If you know that the track pins, the track rollers or the idlers contain the plastic plugs (1), avoid spraying water from the high-pressure washing equipment directly on the ends of these components.
