Sudden movement of the powered screed extender could crush a person in this area causing serious injury or death. Stay out of this area during machine operation.
Machine Operation. Only operate the screed on a host machine that has been approved by Caterpillar.While you operate the screed slowly in an open area, check for proper operation of all controls and all protective devices.Make sure that no one is in danger before the machine is moved.Make sure that no one is in danger before the screed extensions are moved.Note any needed repairs during operation of the screed. Report any needed repairs.Raise the screed. Use the lock pins in order to lock the screed in place. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Screed Service Locks" for further information. Do not go close to the edge of a cliff, an excavation, or an overhang.Maintain control of the machine. Do not overload the machine beyond the machine capacity.Do not allow unauthorized personnel on the equipment.Do not allow riders on the screed when you road the machine. Do not allow riders on the screed when you maneuver the machine.Unless you are instructed otherwise, never attempt maintenance or adjustments to the screed heating system while the engine is running. Electric shock may cause personal injury. Always turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
