Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over disconnected fuel system component.
Note: The aftercooler has been removed for photographic purposes only.

Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and tube assemblies (2).
Remove the O-ring seals. Cap all male fittings and plug all female fittings immediately after you remove the hose assemblies and the tube assemblies.

Remove bolt (5), the washer, and the nut. Remove clamp (4).
Remove bolt (6), the washer, and the spacer. Remove clamp (7). Remove tube assembly (3).

Mark engine oil temperature sensor connector (11) and the connector for the engine oil pressure sensor (12) for identification purposes.
Disconnect engine oil temperature sensor connector (11) and the connector for the engine oil pressure sensor (12).

Attach a strap and a suitable lifting device to unit injector hydraulic pump (14). The weight of the unit injector hydraulic pump is approximately 30 kg (66 lb).
