The sight gauge for the transmission oil level is on the left side of the machine near the articulation joint.
(1) MIN start mark
(2) FULL or MAX mark
(3) ADD or MIN markNote: Before the machine is started, the transmission oil level should be above the "MIN START" mark (1) on the upper end of the sight gauge. Disregard this step and proceed to next item if the machine has been operated within last 1 hour as the transmission oil may not have yet fully drained back from torque converter and transmission cooler.
Operate the machine for a few minutes in order to warm the transmission oil to 67° C (153° F).
Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Put the transmission control into the NEUTRAL position. Lower the bucket to the ground with a slight downward pressure. Engage the parking brake.
Turn the ignition key switch to the Off position and then back to On. The engine does not have to shut down. Ensure that throttle pedal is released, parking brake is engaged, transmission is in neutral, and the implements are not active. For 5 minutes after the key cycle, the engine speed will be set to transmission oil level check speed of 800 rpm.
Check the oil level while the engine is running at transmission oil level check idle speed. Ensure that the machine is not running at hibernate idle.While the engine is running at transmission oil level check idle speed, the transmission oil level should be between the "MIN" or "ADD" mark (3) AND the "MAX" or "FULL" mark (2).
If necessary, remove the filler cap and add oil.
