Information:

3. Depress the brake pedal.4. Release the parking brake.5. With the brake pedal applied, engage the transmission into 3rd speed forward.6. Gradually increase the engine speed to full load speed. The machine must not move.
If the machine moves during the test, reduce the engine speed immediately, and apply the parking brake. If the machine moved while testing the brakes, consult your Caterpillar dealer for brake inspection and repair. Damaged brakes must be repaired before returning the machine to operation.
7. Reduce the engine speed to LOW IDLE. Engage the parking brake. Lower the implements to the ground. Apply a slight down pressure. Stop the engine.Tracks
Adjust the Tracks
Grease is under high pressure. Grease coming out of the relief valve under pressure can penetrate the body causing injury or death.Do not watch the relief valve to see if grease is escaping. Watch the track or track adjustment cylinder to see if the track is being loosened.Loosen the relief valve one turn only.
Move the machine forward and allow it to stop without applying the brake pedal. Tracks should be adjusted under the same conditions in which the machine will be used. If packing conditions prevail on the job, the tracks should be adjusted with packing present. The sag in the track is measured between the sprocket and the carrier roller (1), and between the carrier roller and the front idler (2). Average the two measurements. Correct adjustment for standard machines gives a dimension of 25 6 mm (1.0 .25 inches). Correct adjustment for low ground pressure (LGP) machine is 35 6 mm (1.3 .25 inches).
Do not attempt to tighten track when dimension (3) is 102 mm (4.0 inches) or more. Contact your Caterpillar dealer for track service or instructions.
If Track Sag Is Incorrect
1. Remove the adjusting valve cover plate. 2. Add grease (MPGM) through the adjusting valve (4) until the track is tight.3. Loosen the relief valve (5) one turn only, and allow the grease to escape. Correct track adjustment is when the idler retracks 6 mm (.25 inch).4. Close the relief valve.5. Check the average reference sag to confirm correct adjustment.6. Install the valve cover plate.7. Repeat procedure on other track.Track Shoe Bolt Torque
The torque requirement for track shoe bolts is 170 40 N m (120 30 lb ft) plus an extra 1/3 turn (120°).For split master link bolts, torque to 170 40 N m (120 30 lb ft) plus an extra 1/2 turn (180°).Coolant Conditioner
Add Conditioner
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with you bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
All water is corrosive at engine operating temperature. Use Caterpillar coolant conditioner to treat either plain water or ethylene glycol antifreeze solution. Excessive coolant conditioner (greater than
