Remove the bolt and clip (1) .
Disconnect two wires (3) from the water temperature sensor.
Loosen hose clamp (2) and remove heater hose (4) .

Disconnect wire (5) from the water temperature sender.

Remove four mount bolts (7) from the water temperature regulator housing (6) .
Remove water temperature regulator housing (6) .

Remove gasket (8) from water temperature regulator housing (6) .

Remove the bolt and clip (10). Reinstall the bolt after clip (10) has been removed.
Remove O-ring seal (9) .

Loosen the locknut in order to loosen adjusting screws (12) on each rocker arm about one rotation.

Loosen head bolts (11) in the proper sequence. Refer to Illustration 7.
Remove the rocker shaft.Note: Check the contact surface of the adjusting screw for wear from the pushrods and check for threads that are stripped.

Put identification marks on pushrods (13) in order to identify the location of the pushrods in the engine.
Remove eight pushrods (13) from the cylinder head.Note: Check pushrods for worn ends and check for distortion. If necessary, replace any pushrods that are worn or distorted.
Remove valve caps (14) from each valve stem. This will prevent the valve cap from becoming lost.Note: Check the contact surface of the valve caps for wear and check for oil passages that are clogged.

Squeeze clamp (15) and disconnect the fuel drain line (16) .

Remove nut (17) in order to disconnect electrical harness (18) .

Remove bolt (19) and the spacer from the oil drain line.

Fasten Tooling (A) and a hoist to cylinder head (20) .
Remove the remaining head bolts (11) .

Remove head gasket (21) .
