ATS Instrument Setup
Starting the ATS
Use the following information as a guide to start the ATS and connect the ATS to the AccuGrade System:

From any guidance screen, press the ATS soft key.The ATS dialog appears.
Set the Auto search status as required.Yes - The ATS will automatically attempt to relocate and lock onto the target again by searching the area bounded by the search window defined during ATS setup if the target lock is lost.No - The ATS will not automatically attempt to relocate and lock onto the target.
Press the "Raise Mast" soft key and/or the "Lower Mast" soft key to position the mast so that there is a clear line of sight between the target on the machine and the ATS, while at the same time keeping the mast low enough to minimize mast vibration.

Press the "Start" soft key.The ATS system starts, and the ATS instrument automatically searches for the target in the area bounded by the search window defined during ATS setup.When the target is acquired, the ATS Status changes to "Tracking".Note: If the ATS takes too long to find the target, press "ESC" button to stop the search and the ATS start-up.
Press "OK" button to confirm the settings, or the "ESC" button to exit without saving.You return to a guidance screen.Note: The ATS dialog lets you check the status of the ATS instrument power supply remotely. To check the instrument power supply, press the "Get Battery" soft key. Tracking will be suspended briefly while the ATS instrument performs the check.Initialize The Orientation And The Pitch Of A Single-3D Sensor Machine
If a single-3D sensor machine is moved more than a short distance with the AccuGrade System turned off, when the system starts up the old orientation and pitch information is discarded.Move the machine for a short distance in the desired direction until the Low Accuracy (Move) message no longer appears. Benching An ATS Target
You must bench the target if the ATS location was only specified in two dimensions (northing and easting). You may bench the target if the ATS location was specified in three dimensions, in which case the benched elevation is used to calculate the target location, not the elevation of the ATS. The Height from field in the ATS dialog displays the origin of the Trimble ATS height. The contents of the Height from field are listed in Table 2. If the Height from field displays "No height" you must bench the ATS target before the ATS system can be used.
