Pressurized system: Hot coolant can cause serious burn. To open cap, stop engine, wait until radiator is cool. Then loosen cap slowly to relieve the pressure.

The cooling system pressure cap is located inside the access door (1) on top of the engine compartment. Slowly remove the cooling system pressure cap.
Use a coolant test kit in order to check the concentration of the coolant.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

If necessary, drain enough coolant from the radiator in order to allow the addition of the Extender to the cooling system. The coolant drain valve is located under the rear of the machine.
Topping off or mixing Cat ELC with other products that do not meet Caterpillar EC-1 specifications reduces the effectiveness of the coolant and shortens coolant service life.Use only Caterpillar products or commercial products that have passed the Caterpillar EC-1 specification for pre-mixed or concentrate coolants. Use only Extender with Cat ELC.Failure to follow these recommendations can result in shortened cooling system component life.
Add the Extender to the cooling system. Reference: For the correct amount, refer to Special Publication, SEBU6250, "Caterpillar Machine Fluids Recommendations" or consult your Caterpillar dealer.
Observe the sight gauge in order to maintain the coolant level within the sight gauge.
Install the cooling system pressure cap and close the access door.
