Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. Open hood (1) .
Drain the coolant system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Remove guard assemblies (2), (3), and (4) .

Remove guard assembly (5) .

Use Tooling (A) in order to release the tension on belt (6). Remove belt (6) .

Disconnect hoses (9), (10), (14), and (13) .
Remove clip (8) .
Remove bolts (7), bolts (11), water pump (12), and the gasket.Installation Procedure

Position water pump (12) and the gasket. Install bolts (11) and (7). Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft).
Install clip (8). Connect hoses (10) and (13). Connect hose (9) and tighten the clamp to a torque of 7 1 N m (62 9 lb in). Connect hose (14) and tighten the clamp to a torque of 11 1 N m (97 9 lb in).

Use Tooling (A) in order to install belt (6). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan Drive - Install".

Install guard assembly (5) .

Install guard assemblies (2), (3), and (4) .
Fill the coolant system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Close hood (1). Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
