Use a 2P-8250 Strap Wrench Assembly to remove fuel filter (1) from fuel filter base (2) .

Loosen retaining nut (3) and disconnect tee (4) from fuel filter base (2) .

Remove electrical connection (5) from the clip and disconnect the electrical connection. Loosen retaining nut (6) and disconnect tee (7) from fuel filter base (2) .

Remove two bolts (8) and cover (9) from fuel filter base (2) .

Remove gasket (10) from fuel filter base (2) .

Remove two nuts (11) , the bolts and fuel filter base (2) from the engine.

Remove insert (12) from fuel filter base (2) .Installation Procedure

Prior to installation, apply 4C-9501 Gasket Sealant to the threads on insert (12) . Install insert (12) in fuel filter base (2) and tighten to 68 7 N m (50 5 lb ft) .

Install fuel filter base (2) , two nuts (11) , and the bolts to the engine.

Install a new Caterpillar gasket (10) to fuel filter base (2) .

Install cover (9) and two bolts (8) to fuel filter base (2) .

Connect electrical connection (5) and install the electrical connection in the clip. Connect tee (7) to fuel filter base (2) and tighten retaining nut (6) .

Connect tee (4) to fuel filter base (2) and tighten retaining nut (3) .

Install a new Caterpillar fuel filter (1) to fuel filter base (2) .
Close the engine compartment access door.
