Personal injury or death can result from a fire.Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.
Do not fill fuel filters with fuel before installing them. Contaminated fuel will cause accelerated wear to fuel system parts.
Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over any disconnected fuel system components.

Open the access door on the right side of the machine.

(1) Filter base
(2) Fuel shutoff valve
(3) Secondary filter housing
(4) Drain valve
Turn fuel shutoff valve (2) to the closed position.Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Shutoff and Drain Control" for information on the fuel shutoff valve.
Turn drain valve (4) counterclockwise to open and drain.Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information that pertains to containing fluid spillage.Note: Dispose of used fluids according to local regulations.
Loosen filter housing (3) to drain the rest of fuel inside the filter housing. A wrench may be used to loosen the filter housing.
Close the drain valve (2).
Unscrew filter housing (3) and rotate and remove a secondary filter from the drain valve (4). A wrench may be used to loosen the filter housing. Properly discard the used filter.
Clean the mounting base (1).
Lubricate the seal of the new filter with clean diesel fuel.
Install the new filter into the housing.
Install the filter housing (3) on the filter base (1) and tighten to 50 N m (37 lb ft). Tighten the drain valve (4).
Open the fuel shutoff valve (2).
Prime the fuel system. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime" for instructions.
Close the access door.
