May 2001 CHANGES TO DIRECT PURCHASE PROGRAM FOR
ENGINES
Caterpillar? Remanufactured Products announces changes to thedirect purchase program for
engines.
Due to changing market conditions, Caterpillar Reman ismodifying the direct purchase program
for engines. Effective March 1, 2001, a Return Authorizationnumber, issued by Corinth, is
required to return an engine under the program. You can obtainthe authorization number and
direct purchase price by calling Reman Core Administration atthe number below.
Direct Purchase engine returns will be processed manually. Theengines cannot be processed
electronically through CMIS (Core Management InformationSystem). Returns require a paper
copy of the CCR (Core Credit Request) with the Corinth ReturnAuthorization number and a
Packing List (Caterpillar form no. 01-089514-00). Any enginereturned without an authorization
number, or an engine not meeting the listed criteria, will berejected and returned freight collect
(upon request) or the engine will be scrapped.
Engines must "bar over" two revolutions.
Cylinder block not visibly cracked, broken or welded.
Fully assembled and complete per Caterpillar arrangement.
No non-operational damage (mishandling, excessive rust, corrosion, pitting or fire damage).
Not built from scavenged parts.
Salvageable parts cannot be removed and non-salvageable parts substituted. Suspect cores may be disassembled and inspected internally.
Engines must be completely drained of all fluids.
