MOTOR AS-STARTING 2908032 - Caterpillar

1. Open the engine access door (1) on the right hand side of the engine. 2. To remove the ether cylinder (not shown) from ether starting aid valve assembly (3), loosen clamp (2), and remove the ether cylinder (not shown). 3. Check tube assembly (5) for wear or damage. If necessary disconnect tube assembly (5) from ether atomizer assembly (4) on aftercooler. 4. Disconnect tube assembly (6) from coil tube assembly (7).5. Disconnect wire harness (9) at the electrical connection.6. Check tube assembly (6) for wear or damage. If necessary disconnect tube assembly (6) from ether starting aid valve assembly (3).7. Remove two bolts (8) and ether starting aid valve assembly (3) from the machine. The following steps are for the installation of the ether starting aid.8. Install the ether starting aid in the reverse order of removal.
Since the orifice is not visible when installed, an arrow (in the same position as the orifice) is stamped on one of the flats of the hex nut. Install ether atomizer (4) with the orifice directed down and parallel with the centerline of air pipe (5).
